Synthetic data generation training - Exercise solution videos
Explore our short how-to solution videos for each of the 12 exercises included in this training course.
Exercise 1
- Create a new activity using the wizard, choosing to ‘Configure a new rule set’
Exercise 2
- Navigate to the rule set you have just created and use the ‘Random Create Parameter from Table’ accelerator to get data to be used in synthetic data generation. For example, ‘Product ID’ from the product table.
Exercise 3
- Create a user defined variable that uses one of the synthetic data generation functions
Exercise 4
- Run ‘Apply defaults’ on your rule set
Exercise 5
- For one of the columns in your rule set, choose a function that will populate the column with realistic data
Exercise 6
- Use one of the data list wizards to select an address from one of the standard data lists included in the product into a user-defined variable
- Try one of the ‘where’ clauses as well to only bring in an address for a certain post code
Exercise 7
- Select one of the columns in the rule set to use a sequence as a data generation rule
Exercise 8
- Use a user-defined parameter to populate one of your data generation columns in a rule set
Exercise 9
- Use a linked table reference to populate one of the columns in the rule set
Exercise 10
- Select a column in the rule set and use one of the data reference variables to either populate, or be part of a function that populates it
Exercise 11
- Run the preview and validate action on your ruleset to check the results being produced by the rule set
Exercise 12
- Create the VIP flow and submit form and run it to create data
- Check your results to see the data that has been created as you’d expect
